of
Seaman 1/C Ray Huffman
McComas, West Virginia

Entered service August 21, 1944 Great Lakes, Ill; served at Normon, OK
United States Navy

My uncle Ray Huffman (1926-1971) was born in McComas, WV to Robert David and Cora Mae (Stevens) Huffman. He was raised at McComas, WV in what is referred to as the Pinnacle Hollow area. Ray was a gentle kind hearted person. After returning to McComas after serving in the Navy Ray met and married Elizabeth Batson of Princeton, WV in the early 1950s and they had one daughter Deborah. Ray worked in the Coal Mining industry at Sagamore and Tralee. Elizabeth (Lib) and Ray lived in and around the McComas area (Thomas and Sagamore) for many years and later bought a  home in Matoaka beside the High School. Elizabeth and Ray divorced in the 1960s. Ray and Janice Short later had a son Todd. Ray sadly died an early death and Todd was raised by Ray's nephew Lonnie (son of Ray's oldest brother Troy Huffman) and Ann Odle Huffman of Kegley, WV.
