Nov 13, 2007 Beartown I've wanted to write about the Beartown Memorial Church for some time.  Well I have done that but also provided the link between Beartown and McComas and also some interesting history and photos of this beautiful area of WV.  Once Indian Trails followed these ridges from this area up into the Indian Villages in Ohio.  If one looks these hills are full of history which I find so interesting.  I hope you enjoy reading about this place I've know since I was married in 1964.  Today Jim and I own his parents land and home and we go back and stay and reconnect with our roots periodically.  I'm searching for more information on Crumpler and the Zenith Coal Camp to add to this section if anyone has any stories or photos to share - please do.  email Pat Smith.

On scheduled Sundays President Jimmy Carter teaches a Sunday School class. Karen is the Environmental Education Coordinator for the Georgia Conservancy" in Atlanta, GA. She writes environmental curcriculum, newletters for teachers in the state of Georgia and also teaches workshops for teachers within the state of Georgia - among other duties for the Conservancy. Gordon Howard the unofficial McMillan Family geneologist has written about this family that settled in the Windmill Gap area of McComas shortly after the turn of the century in 1906/7. Many offspring from Jesse and Molly are highlighted in the article.

Their 4 daughters were born at Pinnacle and have provided us with some highlights of their growing up and their memories of McComas. Marguarette the oldest daughter has a son Dave Trettin who originally found my website and informed his aunts and mother. We have been corresponding and passing email and packets of photos via regular mail for weeks now. Cynthia Lou the oldest granddaughter spent much of her early years at McComas with her grandmother babysitting her while her parents attended Concord College - she shares her memories with us as well..
